Born and raised in Bakersfield, CA….okay, okay, I may have reflected a bit further back than necessary, but it is a bit ironic that I, Sherri B. Briggs, a Child of God, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Friend, and Neuroscientist would also become the Baker from Bakersfield! However, baking only amounts to a teaspoon of who I am. Being able to share my love for research with students from marginalized populations, and helping them envision themselves in the STEM field, are truly what drives me to work hard.

As the first African American to graduate from the University of Georgia with. Ph.D. in Neuroscience, I am equally as passionate about remembering, and honoring, people of color and their contributions to science and history. I am blessed to have the opportunity to combine my passions, by being the Cookie Scientist. I get to bake delicious vegan cookies, that I name after African American culinary artists, inventors, and scientists, all while bringing smiles to the faces of those around me.

My ‘Yummy in the tummy’ treats (as my nieces like to say), and their names, celebrate our contributions to all areas of life. I invite you to gratify your sweet tooth with my vegan cookies while being introduced to those who made becoming anything possible!
